All School Tie Dye Project

On a lovely fall Friday afternoon the students and staff at Wellman Elementary tie dyed t-shirts. The process started several weeks ago as we put rubber bands around our t-shirts at our first meeting in friendship groups. Each friendship group is made up of one or two students from each grade level from kindergarten through fifth grade. Throughout the school year we meet to do activities, service projects, lunch/play together, or whatever the staff sets up.

Here's my "Bugs Bunny" friendship group ready to start.

The volunteers were ready for us!

After the t-shirts were safely put into plastic bags to go home, each group had time to snack on popcorn and play. It was a wonderful time together and we can't wait to all wear our t-shirts.

Spirit Week

We participated in Mid-Prairie's Spirit Week to celebrate homecoming. The favorite day was Pajama day! We also had a favorite team day, gold day, farmer day, and black out day.

K-A Kids Act out a Story

After listening to the story The Enormous Turnip, the K-A acted it out. The farmer called the wife to help pull out the enormous turnip. The wife called the daughter to help. The daughter called the dog and the dog called the cat. Finally the cat calls the mouse and together they pull out the turnip. It was a great story to stress team work!

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom! A book of abc's

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin, Jr. and Archambault was a book that we had fun with! In this book the lowercase letters go up the coconut tree. They fall out when the tree gets overloaded. Chicka Chicka Boom Boom! was a phrase that we all had fun reciting throughout the book.

We dug through the "sand" to discover the alphabet letters and helped them get in alphabetical order.

Then we went on a "letter search" around our school looking for and recording alphabet letters found.
